After decades of downward trends, cardiovascular disease (CVD) – America’s number one cause of death – is on the rise. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a monumental and dangerous confluence of epidemics in part due to mass disruptions in the diagnosis and treatment of serious chronic diseases like CVD.
While there has been rapid progress by industry, governments, and other stakeholders to address the pandemic, it is critical to apply the same urgency, ingenuity, and collaboration to tackle the chronic diseases and conditions that pose a threat to our society – including leveraging population health approaches that aim to reduce CVD morbidity and contribute to meaningful, enduring change for generations to come.
